THEOCRITUS & GROSS Anthony (ills.). SIXE IDYLLIA CHOSEN OUT OF THE SICILIAN POET THEOCRITUS AND TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH VERSE. Clover Hill Editions, Chilmark Press, New York 1971. Folio. Morocco backed hessian boards; teg. In fine condition. Number XXXVI of 135 copies (total edition 417 copies) signed by the artist (Anthony Gross) each containing a set of signed prints in the final state. This extra suite of 8 etchings is contained within a clamshell box, backed in matching morocco with marbled paper sides. Both book and box are housed with a purpose made slipcase. Slipcase has a slight crack to back, otherwise all in very fine condition. The work was designed and printed by Will and Sebastian Carter at the Rampant Lions Press, Cambridge and this copy additionally signed for presentation by Will Carter. Prospectus also included. The etchings were the subject of a television arts documentary: "In a Printmakers Workshop" originally shown on BBC2. Sold For £350.00
