Biblion Auctions is the
latest addition to the ever-growing Biblion Community,
which was founded in April 1999. With a hugely successful
retail shop in London’s Mayfair and Europe’s
largest web site for rare and second-hand books, Biblion
has always endeavoured to listen to the wishes of both
collectors and dealers in the running of its projects.
Our main aim has always been to facilitate buying and
selling and play an important role in the British book
trade.
Since our launch, the loudest and most repeated complaints
we hear concern buying and selling at auction, particularly
the charging of outrageous and ever rising commission
rates. Many of our members suggested we start an auction
business and so we looked hard at the facts:

A. Yes, we are a minute’s walk from Bond Street
in the heart of the West End.
Q. Can we promote stock consigned to our auctions?
A. Yes, over the past few years we have amassed a huge
database of 30,000+ collectors worldwide.
Q. Do we have the necessary expertise?
A. Yes, many of our member dealers are experts in their
fields and we are also privileged to have the sage advice
of Ed Smith and Jolyon Hudson from Pickering & Chatto
at our disposal.
Q. Can we offer anything that other auction
houses can’t?
A. Yes, exceptionally low commission rates.

A. By running our business on the lines of profitability
rather than profiteering.
